Saffron Walden is a market town in Essex, and has a population of 15,504. The current average sale price is £501,668. The town is situated 18 miles south of Cambridge and 43 miles north of London.

Sites of interest include the parish church of St Mary the Virgin, which has the tallest spire in Essex and is Grade I listed. The church was rebuilt during the thirteenth-century; an earlier building having stood on the site in the twelfth-century. Walden Castle was constructed during the twelfth-century and is today a ruin. Audley End House is a seventeenth-century country house outside Saffron Walden. Bridge End Gardens are listed Grade II* and have features including a maze.

Other attractions include Saffron Walden Museum, the Fry Art Gallery and Audley End Miniature Railway, which opened in 1964. There are facilities for sports in the town, including football, hockey and rugby. Saffron Walden Town F.C. play their home games at Catons Lane, which has a capacity of 2,000.
